Bought airline tickets to Denver bc it was way cheaper. I've never been to this part of the country before so I'm wondering if there are cheaper alternatives to renting a car to get to Colorado springs ..... And if those alternatives are accessible at DIA

You can take a bus from the Denver airport to downtown Denver, and then from there catch a bus from downtown Denver to Colorado Springs. None of the buses are all that frequent, so depending on your schedule this may be easy or difficult.

Here is the schedule for the bus that goes from the Denver airport to downtown Denver:

Now, to get from downtown Denver to Colorado Springs, you have two options. You can either take the "Front Range Express" bus or a Greyhound bus.

Here is the Front Range Express schedule. Note that it only runs on weekdays:

Here is the Greyhound website. You'll have to type in your destinations and times to find a bus that might work. Note that there are a couple of different Greyhound stations in Denver, so make sure you pick one that is downtown, within walking distance of where the airport-to-downtown bus will drop you off:

The problem that is all over Yahoo Answers and that I have heard a ton is that all of the singles in CS are men. Very few women. Now, you don't say if you are male or female, so just keep that in mind. The man to woman ratio in CS, because of the military bases, is like 10 to 1. Denver has a better nightlife and, in general, more stuff to do. Denver is also closer to Boulder, where there are tons of college people (hot singles?) partying. If I had to make that choice, I'm 30, I would choose Denver area. All the other posters are right....CS is notoriously conservative (thanks military!) and Denver is liberal. Denver has easier access to the mountains and skiing, national parks, etc I think. Go Denver. CS is nice to visit but I would not want to live there

Denver is the enjoy where in fact the shine may sun 300 days of year. Denver is a booming ethnic world, varied neighborhoods, and organic splendor mix for the world's most spectacular playground and with hotelbye you will see how to get there. Denver is the place for: World-class attractions, natural miracles, successful arts scene, lots of innovative and acclaimed restaurants and nightlife possibilities galore. Denver definitly first got it all. In Denver you are able to visit the Mount Evans and the Mount Evans Highway. The Mount Evans Highway is a seasonal street that will be shut during the winter weeks

Rent a car. It is almost a 2 hour drive to the Springs from DIA. Trying to make bus connections will be a nightmare. Next time , fly into Colorado Springs airport. You may be able to change your tickets if you have enough time. The change fee may be cheaper than a car rental and gas. If you are flying South West there is no fee.

In a few years we'll ahve commuter rail but not quite yet.

There is a shuttle from DIA to the Springs, http://www.coloradoshuttle.com/

If you don't need a car down there then the shuttle is your best bet. Depending on where in the Springs you are going the ride will be 60-90 minutes, also depends on shuttle stops.
