Fastest: take I-25 South all the way to las Crues, New Mexico. From There I-10 all the way,
Shortest: Take I-25 South to Santa Fe, New Mexico, Take Hwy 84 South towards Gallup To I-40, Take I-40 East to Amarillo, on the east side of Amarillo, take Hwy 287 South to Fort Worth, In Fort Worth Take I-35W to Hillsboro, In Hillsboro transfer over I-35 South all the way till you reach San Antonio. Its a little longer, but it isn't all that boring of taking I-10 from New Mexico to San Antionio, with all that open road between El Paso and San Antonio,
Have a great day!

Shortest route is just above you. Try doing what John Travolta is doing in going places. He just drive his Jet and there he goes reaching his distination at the fastest possible.
